2) What is the difference between a Suit Jacket, a Blazer and a Sports Jacket ? 3) What is laundering and starching? 4) What is the difference between CLASSIC COLLECTIONS, EXCLUSIVE COLLECTIONS, DELUXE COLLECTIONS and HERITAGE GOLD COLLECTIONS? 5) What is the Turnaround Time at MyCustomTailors? 6) I am looking for Fabric Care Information 7) I am looking for wrinkle resistant fabrics, durable, everyday wear 8) What are the Shipping and Handling Charges? 9) Do you ship to / deliver to UK ? USA ? Australia ? What countries do you ship to ? How long does it take to arrive ? 10) What are the Conditions, Customs Duties or Taxes that I must be aware of ? Dormieul is famous for its ´smooth as silk´ finish of wool suitings and have a lustre to it that exudes High Class Taste and Refinement. A person who wears Dormieul stands out as someone who knows what to wear and how to wear it. You can learn more about fabrics by visiting our Glossary pages or you can do quick Cloth searches using one or more criteria to help pick specific cloth you might be interested in, based on the weight, patterns, content and other requirements. [Top] Another difference is that while suit jackets are matched with exactly the same colour as the pants, sports jackets can be any colour and usually with a pattern such as hounds tooth or herringbone or checks and if solids, they are usually very light or very dark colours..never ´in between´ colours. Sports jackets should never be in stripes or prince of Wales checks as these are suitings. Blazers are always solids and only in dark blue, navy, black, burgundy, dark green, red and white or ivory. Blazers must always have gold or silver buttons while sports jackets should have matching buttons as should suit jackets. The cut of the three are pretty much similar though sports jackets can never be double breasted. Blazers can be single or double breasteds and suits too can be single or double breasteds. Vents are the openings on the back of the jackets. Some call it slits. Classic traditional styles usually have one vent..center vent.. at the back of the jacket. Very traditional British or 50s and 60s style of jackets have two vents..side vents .. at the back of the jacket and more modern ´Italian cut´ slim styles have no vents at the back of the jacket in which case the hips tend to be a bit on the snug side as well. [Top] Starching shirts and other cotton or cotton/polyester garments is common. The basic function of starch is to stiffen the garment. Incidental use is to prevent stains from penetrating the fiber. However, starch leaves minute crystals in the fiber and can often wear the garment out faster than a garment that has not been starched. The choice is then appearance versus longer life for your garment [Top] These fabrics are excellent for traveling and as very cost effective suits. The exclusive fabrics are all imported with minimal synthetic blends and are generally lighter in weight. They have a softer drape and fall. These fabrics are richer in look and feel. The Deluxe fabrics are all imported from countries like Italy, France and the U.K. and are all pure wools, cashmeres etc unless otherwise specified. These materials do not contain any synthetic fibers. Should budgetary constraints not be an issue, we would recommend the more value added Exclusive or Deluxe fabrics for all your suiting needs and the Classic collections for your shirts as the best option. It is not unusual though for first time clients to order from our classic collections to confirm the fit and cut of our products before investing in higher end selections. The fabrics in the HERITAGE GOLD COLLECTIONS are sourced from Top End suppliers such as Dormieul, Holland and Sherry, Reda, Barberis and others in Europe. The associated costs of having the fabric delivered to us for custom making to specifications provided as well as the fabrics being produced by high end millers, makes this line of fabric more expensive than the DELUXE. The DELUXE COLLECTIONS itself is a very high end fabric range comparable to the best there is, but since it is available here in Thailand easily, and also stocked in our inventory, economies of scale allow custom clothing in these materials to be produced more cost effectively. For the sake of comparison, an equivalent suit to our single breasted two piece from the classic collections is available in the USA for around USD 600 off the rack! An equivalent of our single breasted two piece suit from the exclusive collections is retailing in the USA for around USD 750+ and a suit equivalent to our deluxe collection single breasted suit retails for USD 950 in the USA. Fabrics from our HERITAGE GOLD collections are rarely available as off the rack ready to wear suits and are generally found at very high end custom tailors such as those on Saville Row, England. The suits in our HERRITAGE GOLD collection if found off the rack ready to wear from a designer label generally retails for USD 1500 + and if made to measure by a custom tailor in the UK, would generally go for USD 2500+ or GBP 1800+ [Top] For Resellers, depending on availability, swatch sets if ordered, may take longer since if new sets are being prepared, the labour intensive project might take longer than the week to ten days standard turnaround time to complete. Exact schedules for swatch sets to resellers can only be confirmed on a case by case basis. If fabric swatches or our Digital Catalogue are ordered, the swatches or catalogue are prepared in around three working days and shipped according to the indicated preference when submitting the swatch/catalogue requisition request. If swatches or the catalogue are shipped by courier, delivery is in three to four working days. If however, the swatches or catalogue are ordered to be shipped by airmail, it can take four to six weeks for delivery. Regretfully no tracking facility is available to track swatch request orders that are airmailed. Couriered swatches or catalogues can be traced via the MyAccounts section as one would track custom clothing orders. We however to send out constant updates to the progress of the orders and as soon as orders are processed, an expected dispatch date is indicated via email. To track packages please use the tracking facility provided in the MyAccounts section in the current order details page. In regards to the Estimated Dispatch Date, the estimated dispatch date is displayed in the MyAccounts section where your order is listed. This is the date we believe your order will be shipped depending on the current volumes of work we have on hand. However, as noted, this is but an estimated date and not an absolute date. On most instances, we are able to ship orders much before the estimated dispatch date displayed, however there can be instances when the order dispatch is delayed due to delays in order completion. Such delays can be due to fabric availability issues, delays in payment processing for the order, fabric delivery delay from our suppliers or as is the case in most instances, due to extremely specific, complicated or detailed features of the order or parts of the order. Delay can be expected if there are features in the garment that go beyond the usual details in our custom garments or if there are styling features that need additional work to incorporate. Delays can also occur if incomplete or incomprehensive information has been received in regards to an order or if there has been delays in responses received from you if we have asked for any clarifications or explanations in regards to the order. We do try our best and succeed in 99% of the time to ship orders within the estimated dispatch date specified for your order. Should an order be needed before the estimated dispatch date, please feel free to Contact us with the order number(s) and the required delivery date of the order so that we can upgrade your order to priority processing for a small fee as noted in the Priority Processing information in the FAQ sections of our site. Please note that delay of maximum of a week counted from the estimated dispatch date may be experienced during the month of April due to the annual Thai New Year Holidays. [Top] No item should have a hot iron applied directly but should always have a white linen cloth between the iron and the custom garment or better still, should be ironed from the reverse side or steam pressed. Only use very hot irons for pressing pure cotton cloth. We also recommend natural drying over machine drying and hand wash over machine wash for all our cotton and cotton blend products. Dry clean only and steam press for our wool or silk products. This is valid for all fabric classes and types per the indications provided. A FEW QUICK TIPS ON STAIN REMOVAL... If you have stains on your suits, other than having them cleaned by professional dry cleaners, here are a few ´quick fixes´ you can try: Lipstick - Use hot water to rub off the oil base, then use soap to wash off Alcohol - Breathe tobacco smoke on it to prevent rings from forming, then wash off with hot water or rubbing alcohol Blood - Rub off with hydrogen peroxide Ball Pen - Use petrol to rub off stain, then wash off with soap Chewing Gum - Do not attempt to peel it off as it will stick deeper into fabric fibre. Put ice on it to solidify the gum. then peel it off when it gets hard. Drinks - Use diluted vinegar to wash it off Soy Sauce - Rub off with ginger juice Shoe Polish - Rub off with petrol Coffee - Rub off with hot water, then wash off with soap Mercurochrome - Wash off with diluted vinegar Rust - Rub off with lemon Perfume Stain - Rub off gently with rubbing alcohol [Top] You can also use the Fabric Search function to quickly and easily pick out the perfect materials for your requirements. Select single or multiple criteria when doing your searches for perfect results. [Top] We may from time to time, use other couriers such as UPS, DHL, FedEx and others. The discretion of which courier to use for which shipment dispatch rests entirely on us as we try to use the most efficient method of delivery we deem appropriate at any instance and for any order. Please note that orders under US$75 do carry a small micro-shipment charge of US $12 to cover the additional cost incurred due to volume/weight parameters of the shippers. [Top] All purchases made at this site is pursuant to a shipping contract. By purchasing from this website, it is understood that You also agree to allow us to choose the transportation mode and transport carrier for the transportation of your purchases and goods or items being sent to you, at our discretion. While we will try our best to arrange the most ideal carrier of goods for delivery of your order, You can nevertheless, specify the carrier of your choice and who you wish us to forward the orders to, for shipment, by using the appropriate fields in the special requests section of the order placement process to type in your instructions. It is though not an absolute requirement that your instructions are followed if we find your carrier of choice not to be the best option of delivery in your particular instance. The cost of shipping of an order is included in the total price of the order but should there be any import duties in the port of delivery, this is the responsibility of the receiver. Such duties can range from 5% to 20% country to country but would suggest however that this be confirmed with the appropriate authorities in your area. We however do try to minimize this as much as possible by declaring the package worth a replacement value. Generally this would not incur any customs duties. [Top]
